for as long as he can remember - for as long as anyone can remember - sejun simply did his job. he was thereafter the last breath was taken, and guided the soul to whatever was waiting for it. he didn't know personally. sejun never asked questions. he had no judgment. no memories. no real anything at all. pyschopomps aren't ghosts because they've never died. but they never get to live either.

one day, sejun witnessed the opposite of everything he'd ever known: he watched someone take their first breath. they opened their eyes for him instead of closing them. something in him changed, and sejun became more about life than death. (disrupting the natural order a bit in the process.)
